Accessibility Statement and Multi-Year Accessibility Plan
Kerr Bros. Limited is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity. We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner and will do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Training on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on the Human Rights Code, as it relates to people with disabilities will be provided to employees on an annual basis.
Information and Communication: Employees will interact with people with disabilities in a manner that takes into account their disability.
Employment: Kerr’s is committed to fair and accessible employment practices.
- Recruitment and hiring processes will be modified to accommodate any disabilities, if requested.
- The accessibility needs of employees will be integrated into the human resources practices.
- Employees with disabilities will be provided with individualized emergency response plan when necessary.
- Individual accommodation plans and return-to-work plans will be developed for employees that have been absent due to a disability.
- Various learning styles will be utilized in training to ensure employees with hidden disabilities are accommodated.
- Confidentiality of the employee’s disability will be maintained to secure their dignity and respect.
Transportation: The accessibility standard for transportation does not apply to Kerr Bros. Limited.
Built Environment: Kerr’s is committed to having a facility that meets the accessibility requirements for people with disabilities, based on the Ontario Building Code.
- In July 2021, Kerr’s relocated their manufacturing facility to Winston Park Dr., Oakville, ON. In this relocation, the facility renovations including accessible entrances, washrooms, and water fountains.
Customer Service: Kerr’s customers are any member of the public outside of the Kerr organization: a consumer (end user of Kerr products), Buyer or Retailer, any third party (administration, freight, suppliers, etc.)
- People with disabilities shall be permitted to use personal assistive devices in the Kerr facility and while accessing Kerr’s services.
- Service animals are allowed into the office area of the Kerr facility. Service animals are not permitted in the warehouse or manufacturing areas, as per Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001, o. Reg. 31/05, s.44.
- People with disabilities may be accompanied by support persons in the Kerr facility, and in meeting with Kerr employees. The support person may be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
- If facilities (i.e. accessible washrooms) are temporarily unavailable, a notice shall be posted at the entrances to the facility.
